Jamshedpur: In a significant effort to combat the spread of Diarrhoea diseases, Rajesh Sharma, Secretary of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Jharkhand Government, and Ananya Mittal, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, jointly flagged off the Diarrhoea Prevention Awareness Rath from the Collectorate premises in Jamshedpur. The initiative aims to educate the public about the prevention of Diarrhoea , particularly during the rainy season when the disease’s prevalence increases.
Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar and other officials were also present to support this vital campaign. The awareness chariot will traverse various villages across all blocks, disseminating crucial information on preventing Diarrhoea by maintaining cleanliness, drinking pure water, and consuming fresh food.

Speaking at the event, Secretary Rajesh Sharma emphasized the importance of awareness in preventing diseases. He noted that many illnesses, including Diarrhoea , often arise from a lack of proper information. The campaign is designed to educate people on how to avoid the disease by adopting hygienic practices.
District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal highlighted that the incidence of Diarrhoea tends to rise during the rainy season. He stated that the awareness chariot would inform district residents about essential preventive measures, such as handwashing before meals and ensuring the consumption of clean water and fresh food.
The campaign also aims to inform the public about the dangers of consuming contaminated water and the necessity of maintaining cleanliness. Diarrhoea , a disorder of the digestive system characterized by continuous loose stools, can be significantly mitigated through these preventive measures. While most patients recover with treatment, some cases can be severe, underscoring the importance of prevention.
Additionally, the campaign includes a facility for free treatment at Sadar Hospital, Sub-Divisional Hospital, and all Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across the district. This ensures that those affected by Diarrhoea have access to necessary medical care.
The event also featured the launch of a signature campaign by Secretary Rajesh Sharma and senior district officials, aimed at spreading the message of Diarrhoea prevention and health care among the district’s population. This initiative reflects the Jharkhand Government’s commitment to improving public health and preventing the spread of Diarrhoeal diseases through proactive and educational measures.
