Award winning director to make Santali film on social issues

Jamshedpur, Aug. 11: Inner Eye Creation, a film production house is making a Santali film named ‘Baha Sorene Harayen’ (A grown up girl) based on the social issues of the society.

Baha Sorene is the name of a teenage girl while Harayen means grown up.

The film is directed by national and international award winning film director Dhananjoy Mandal, who is looking for a teenage Santali girl for the lead role in the film who will play Baha.

The film revolves around the girl who grows up facing all the social problems including eve teasing, political issues, Maoists, backward caste etc., said, Dhananjoy Mandal.

Addressing a press conference at Kala Mandir in Bistupur on Friday, Mandal further said, auditions for artists will be held at Media Mantra Acting Academy, Outer Circle Road, near Kantilal Gandhi Hospital on August 13 from 9 am to 5 pm.
The audition is open to all but the artists must be able to speak Santali language. The girls and boys should be aged between 12 to 15 years while the men and women should range between 20 to 30 years.

‘Our main motive is to make a Santali film that wins the national award as no Santali film has made it to that level and also to help it reach the international film festival’, added the director.

The shooting will start in October 2017 and will be held in East Singhbhum.

Also present at the press conference were film producer Monotosh Bera, Chandan Banerjee, Hari Mittal, Jitrai Hansda and Sahil Hansda.
