Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner Arava Rajkamal Saturday appealed to the people to pay no attention to rumours and exercise restraint in spreading the same. He said the district and its people had the good reputation of living with communal harmony and brotherhood. Maintaining peace and respecting law and order is the duty of every individual, he said.

“No one should pay attention to rumours. Members of the public are expected to cooperate with the district administration in keeping law and order and maintaining peace. There may be anti-social elements around who would want to disturb the environment of brotherhood. People should not get influenced by them and should immediately inform the district administration about their activities,” said the DC in his statement.

The DC appealed to peace committee members and social workers to abstain from holding public meetings and play their role in promoting peaceful coexistence among different communities. He also asked media personnel to not post news which may have an adverse impact on the law and order situation.

The DC’s appeal came in the wake of yesterday’s violence in Ranchi. He said all administration officers and police officials had been asked to be in alert mode. A special watch is being kept on social media posts, he said.
