Jamshedpur Commuters in Jamshedpur will have to shell out more for their daily commute starting tomorrow. A new rate chart for auto-rickshaws is set to implemented in the city from June 12. In light of the continuous rise in diesel and CNG prices, the ‘Shikshit Berozgar Tempo Chalak Sanchalak Sangh’ has officially released the revised fare structure.
The General Secretary of the association, Shyam Kinkar Jha, stated that diesel and CNG prices have increased by an average of ₹9. Furthermore, the cost of auto spare parts has also gone up significantly. Due to the surging number of auto-rickshaws in the city, drivers are finding it increasingly difficult to get enough passengers. Considering these circumstances, a decision has been taken to increase the fare by up to ₹5 for several stoppages.
Note: Auto fares were last revised in the year 2021. This hike is being introduced after a gap of nearly five years. The local administration has been formally informed about this decision.
