Auto driver killed over picking up passengers

Jamshedpur, Nov 28: A 43-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Vijay Kumar Rao collapsed and died after he was pushed down on the ground by fellow auto-rickshaw driver following brawl over picking up passengers first at Sakchi-Telco auto-rickshaw stand under Sakchi police station on Thursday evening.

According to the information, accused Badri Thakur entered into verbal fight with the victim after he allegedly picked up passengers who were supposed to board Thakur�s auto-rickshaw.

The verbal duel soon turned into case of physical assault when Thakur�s son, who is also an auto-rickshaw driver, joined his father.

It is learnt that the victim tried to escape from the site but he was chased and attacked by the father son duo, in the fit of rage.

�Police have arrested the main accused (Badri Thakur),� said SP, City, Karthik S. Raids are on to arrest Thakur�s son who fled the spot before police reached there.

The SP also said police will investigate into the matter to ascertain the chronology of the events before concluding anything. Victim�s body has been shifted to the MGM hospital for the postmortem purpose.
