Atul Bhatnagar appointed Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has announced the appointment of Atul Kumar Bhatnagar as the new Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO), marking a key leadership transition within the company. Bhatnagar, who is currently serving as General Manager of Tata Steel’s Noamundi Mines (OMQ Division), will take charge of UISL’s operations effective January 1, 2026.

The appointment follows the sudden passing of the former Managing Director, Ritu Raj Sinha, earlier this year, leaving the leadership position vacant. In his new role, Bhatnagar will report to the Vice President of Corporate Services and lead Tata Steel UISL’s initiatives in urban infrastructure, sustainability, and community services across its operational regions.

Atul Bhatnagar brings to the role extensive experience in mining operations and corporate leadership within the Tata Steel Group. His previous responsibilities included overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the OMQ Division at Noamundi — one of Tata Steel’s core mining units — where he played a pivotal role in operational excellence and stakeholder engagement.

Industry analysts note that Bhatnagar’s appointment comes at a time when Tata Steel UISL is focused on enhancing its service delivery in utilities and sustainable urban solutions. The company’s strategic priorities include expanding sanitation infrastructure, water management systems, environmental initiatives, and improving the overall quality of life in the communities it serves.

In his new capacity, Bhatnagar is expected to drive operational synergies between Tata Steel’s core businesses and UISL’s service portfolio, while advancing the company’s commitment to sustainability and community development.
