Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL) has successfully commissioned a state-of-the-art Chlorine Dioxide Plant at its Sakchi Water Works, marking a major step in enhancing the city’s water treatment infrastructure and public health safeguards.
The facility was inaugurated by D. B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel Limited, in the presence of senior leadership from Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL.
The event was also attended by A. K. Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL; Raghunath Pandey, President, Tata Steel Utility Services Shramik Union; along with other senior officials.
The newly commissioned plant significantly improves water disinfection efficiency while enhancing operational safety by eliminating the risks associated with conventional chlorine gas handling.
The adoption of advanced chlorine dioxide technology strengthens the quality assurance framework, ensuring a consistent supply of safe and potable water to the residents of Jamshedpur.
This initiative reinforces Tata Steel UISL’s commitment to modernising urban utility infrastructure through safer technologies, operational excellence, and a sustained focus on public health and environmental responsibility.
