Voter Turnout Surges: Assam Leads with 38.92% in First Four Hours

New Delhi: Voter turnout reached 38.92% in Assam by 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to the latest Election Commission of India (ECI) data. Regional participation remains strong across the board, with Puducherry recording 37.06% and Kerala following at 33.28%.

Polling for these high-stakes Assembly elections began at 7 a.m. Citizens are currently deciding the future of 126 seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 in Puducherry. The ECI will announce the final results on May 4.


Kerala: Early Momentum and Home Voting

In Kerala, approximately 2.71 crore voters are determining the state’s next government.

Puducherry: Steady Turnout for the 30-Member House

Polling is proceeding smoothly across the Union Territory as voters elect representatives for the 30-member Assembly.

  • Current Leadership: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy leads the governing coalition, comprised of the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) and the BJP.

  • Fair Elections: Chief Electoral Officer P. Jawahar confirmed that the administration implemented comprehensive measures to ensure a free and fair polling process.
