Asha Kiran School observes International day of people with disability

Jamshedpur, Dec 3: International day of people with disability was celebrated at Asha Kiran School with festive fervor and fanfare on Wednesday.

The events of the day were kicked off with the arrival of chief guest for the occasion AB Lall – Plant Head, Tata Motors.

The children from Asha Kiran School and START (Society for Technical Assistance and Remedial Teachings) put up a colorful and entertaining cultural program which was followed by sports, art and various other competitions.
All the children were greeted and felicitated by senior officials of Tata Motors as they handed over gifts and tokens to the children.

International Day of People with Disability is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992.
The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding and awareness of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being and integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

The theme for this year is “Sustainable development: The promise of technology”.

Although, information and communication technologies have changed the way people live, work and play, not all have benefited from the advancement.

There are one billion people living in the world with some form of disability and are deprived from the advancement of information and communication technologies.

At the event Bhawna S Thakur, Member of Managing Committee of Asha Kiran School was present along with other dignitaries.
