Arrested thieves sent to jail in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept. 28: The police arrested thieves who had stolen Rs 12,000 and a smartphone of a truck driver from near Tata-Kandra Toll Plaza under Kandra police station area in the night of September 18. They were sent to jail on Sunday.

Those arrested were identified as Ankit Kumar Pandey and Shakti Kumar Tiwary, both residents of Moti Nagar in Gamharia and were truck cleaners.  Beside Ankit and Shakti, yet another person Aditya Kumar Singh was also arrested in the case for buying the smartphone.

OC, Kandra police station Dinesh Prasad said that acting on information a truck had developed a breakdown near the Tata-Kandra Toll Plaza in the night of September 18, leading the driver Manoj Kumar to go for having his dinner at a road-side hotel. When they returned Manoj  his smartphone as well as Rs 12,000 cash which had been kept in it were missing.  The victim driver had subsequently come to the Kandra thana and lodged an FIR against unknown miscreants leading the police to start investigation.

“We came into action soon after the incident the miscreants had also stolen the smartphone. The police put the smartphone number in the technical cell of the district police for tracing the mobile tower location of the stolen gadget.  Eventually, the mobile location was traced to a shop at Gamharia. The shop owner Aditya confessed that two youths had come to him to sell smartphones of one of them, showing some emergency.  Aditya also claimed to have demanded for the papers of the mobile phone,” said Prasad.
