Jamshedpur, Nov. 7: In a daring dacoity, a group of unidentified miscreants looted jewellery worth more than Rs 15 lakh along with cash and ATM cards at gun-point from Vivek Vihar, near Dhirajganj under Adityapur police station area in the wee hours on Saturday.
According to the Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Inderjeet Mahtha, ten armed dacoits broke into the house of one Akhilesh Kumar at around 2 am on Saturday, woke up the family members and held them hostage.
Armed with Mouser, country made pistol and knifes, the dacoits also took away four mobile phones, ATM cards and Rs 18 thousand in cash from the house and fled the house at around 3.30 am.
According to Akhilesh Kumar, �After the gang left my wife called up the neighbours, who informed the police about the incident.�
SP Mahtha said that the looted jewellery amounts to more than Rs. 15 lakh. Two DSP rank officers have been assigned the task of investigating the matter along with a dog squad, added Mahtha.
