Arjun Munda pays tribute to martyrs of Kharsawan firing

Seraikela: On one hand, the country is immersed in the celebration of the New Year, on the other hand people are reaching Kharsawan in Jharkhand to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kharsawan firing, one of the deadliest massacres of independent country on 1 January 1948.
 Union Minister Arjun Munda reached Kharsawan on Saturday where he paid tribute to the martyrs of Kharsawan shooting at the martyr altar. While expressing his condolences to the martyrs killed in the Kharsawan firing incident, Munda said that today is the day to take a resolution.
The Tribal Ministry is preparing the data of the people of the tribal community who died in the freedom struggle so that the country and the world can be reminded of the sacrifice of the people of the tribal community in the defense of the water, forest and land from the freedom struggle.
After this, Munda reached Hensa village of Seraikela block. He paid tribute by paying homage at the tomb of Late Mangu Soy and his wife Late Ludgi Soy, who were eyewitnesses of Kharsawan shooting incident. 
On this occasion, he said that the martyrdom of the martyrs is the pride of history. It should not be forgotten.He said that soon the statues of Late Mangu Soy and Late Dashrath Manjhi, who were eyewitnesses of Kharsawan shooting incident, would be installed at the martyr site. On this occasion, former MLA Mangal Singh Soy and former MLA Laxman Tudu, MP representative Ashwini Singhdev, son of late Mangu Soy, ex-serviceman Shankar Soy and others were present.
Mangu Soy was shot behind the knee of the left leg and in the right palm in the incident of firing in Kharsawan on January 1, 1948. He died on 8 April 2018 at the age of 108. It should be noted that on January 1, 1948, a protest was being held to shift the Kharsawan Haat market elsewhere through a meeting, in which thousands of people from the tribal community had gathered. It was led by Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda.However, the program of Jaipal Singh Munda was postponed in time and the then Odisha government opened fire on the tribals protesting here in which countless people of tribal community were killed. The whereabouts of many could not be traced till date. Since then till today, on January 1, a tribute meeting is organized in the memory of the martyrs of Kharsawan shooting, in which not only Jharkhand, but also from Odisha and Bengal, the families of the martyrs reach here and pay their tributes to the martyrs of Kharsawan shooting.
