Ranchi, Jan 16: The hearing on the anticipatory bail plea filed by MP Geeta Koda in connection with a case related to the non-filing of income tax returns concluded today. Additional Commissioner MC Jha presided over the proceedings and has reserved the decision. The court is expected to announce its verdict on January 19.
The case against MP Geeta Koda dates back to the fiscal year 2009-10, where she was charged with the non-filing of income tax returns and providing incorrect information. The Income Tax Department filed a case on January 4, 2012. Subsequently, in 2012, Geeta Koda approached the High Court, which granted a stay for almost five years. Fearing arrest after the stay was lifted, she filed an anticipatory bail petition on December 20, seeking protection from the court.
Despite the conclusion of the anticipatory bail hearing, the court has maintained a moratorium on any pest operations until further orders. This legal development adds to the ongoing legal proceedings concerning Geeta Koda’s alleged non-compliance with income tax regulations.
