Jamshedpur, Dec. 1: In an unprecedented anti-encroachment drive, local administration and Jusco today cleared the Old Court Road of congestion by removing several push-carts and kiosks.
The day-long drive, which was meant largely for keeping the anti-social elements at bay, was carried out at the behest of the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amitabh Kaushal, who had personally taken a stock of the encroachment scenario. The eviction squad had also removed congestion by removing the clusters of push-cart shops and kiosks from the places like Jubilee Park’s Sakchi gate.
Such vendors who could not move away with the cart had to part with the push-cart. Workers and policemen who were moving with trucks got the kiosks and push-carts seized and get them loaded in the trucks.
During the five-hour long drive which began around 11 a.m., as many as 50 push-carts and other kiosks were seized. The administration seized them after giving adequate time to owners of these shops for removing from the road-side.
