Anti-encroachment drive launched in Haldipokhar

Jamshedpur: A team of district administration led by the sub divisional magistrate of Dhalbhum Madhvi Mishra removed encroachment from Haldipokhar Market under Kowali police station area on Wednesday.

More than 150 shops and other structures were pulled down during the drive. Apprehending protest by the shopkeepers and local residents, the administration had made a heavy deployment of security personnel.

The anti-encroachment drive began at 11.30 am and continued till 4 pm. It was launched in the main market, rice market, Kowali Road, Odisha Road and Murga Bazar.
The administration authorities had asked the shopkeepers to remove encroachment from the market on their own. Bulldozers were pressed into service to remove the unauthorized structures. By evening, the market looked abandoned.

According to the SDM, the government land would be measured to find out if it is still encroached.

The SDM was accompanied by the Potka CO Dwarika Baitha, BDO PC Das, DSP Ajit Kumar Bimal and other administration officials.
