Another coronavirus death in TMH, Jamshedpur records 79 new positives on Tuesday

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, July 28: Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Jharkhand with state reporting record cases with every passing day.

On Tuesday, 757 new cases surfaced in Jharkhand while one person succumbed to the virus. Total cases in Jharkhand have climbed to 9634.

The only death in the state was reported from Jamshedpur where 82-year-old man succumbed to the virus.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 1500 mark.      

79 new cases reported on Tuesday, July 28 while 7 people who recovered from the disease were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 79 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Tuesday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.

With the death of 82-year-old Bhuiyandih resident at Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur on Tuesday, July 28, the total corona positive death count in Jamshedpur climbed to 28. The first COVID-19 positive death occurred on July 4. Thus in a span of 24 days, 28 death cases due to coronavirus infection were recorded. An 82 year old Bhuinyadih resident succumbed to COVID-19 infection while undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital. He is the 28th victim in the city to die of the pandemic. The first casualty in Jamshedpur was reported on July 4. According to reports, the man was admitted to TMH on July 26 with fever and breathing problems. He was a resident of Shyamnagar in Bhuinyadih.

Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 3, Chatra 12,  Dhanbad 3, Dumka 1, East Singhbhum 79, Garhwa 12, Giridih 82, Godda 2, Gumla 9, Hazaribagh 65, Jamtara 4, Khunti 5, Koderma 42, Lohardaga 6, Pakur 17, Palamu 121,  Ramgarh 3, Ranchi 231, Seraikela 5, Simdega 47 and West Singhbhum 8 taking the state corona tally to 9563.For 15 days in a row over 200 cases have been reported every single day in the state.

One death has been reported in Jharkhand on Tuesday, July 28.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.

The cabinet has made not wearing a mask in public places a criminal offence under the Disaster Management Act and decided to slap a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh on the violators. Not wearing a mask could also lead to imprisonment of up to two years, the cabinet decided. 

The decision, officials said, was taken in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic after Jharkhand saw an unprecedented rise in cases of infection in July. The count of Covid-19 cases has tripled in the state since June, and officials have held the lackadaisical approach of citizens responsible for the spike in cases.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 5485 and fatalities at 94 while 3984 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
