Jamshedpur, Jan. 8: Social organization Samadhaan’s two-day exhibition titled ‘Anokhi’ was inaugurated by social worker Nalini Rammurthy at The Alcor hotel in Bistupur on Friday, January 8.
The exhibition will be put up till Saturday, January 9 and have 25 stalls where special traditional costumes from Kolkata, Ludhiana, Delhi along designer sarees, fashion flexes, home decorative lights and lamps, painting-sculptures, fashion jewellery, interior designer items, Hand designed sarees, food products from cottage industries and others will be put up at the exhibition. Exhibitors will come from Delhi, Ludhiana and Ranchi but most of the entrepreneurs will be from Jamshedpur.
Chief Guest Nalini Rammurthy said, Samadhaan since last year have started doing considerable social work. Last month it organised a community marriage for 11 poor girls and has also worked on the awareness of girl child and campaigns against female foeticide.
During the inauguration, Poonam Vig, president of Samadhaan said, the exhibition aims to provide a platform to women entrepreneurs and help them showcase their products. At the exhibition, through its campaign ‘Project Humanitarian’ a stall has been put up and people can generously donate warm clothes, sweaters, blankets, old clothes, shoes, bags for the needy.
Poonam Vig further stated that Samadhaan is organizing this exhibition as a fund raiser for their new social venture– Sakhi Saheli, that would train women to make bio-degradable sanitary napkins. The NGO has already identified a place in Baradwari where the production would commence from this month.
Dinesh Sahu, patron, Samadhaan said that the funds generated from the exhibition will be used in a livelihood programme for disabled and needy women of the city.
