Jamshedpur, June 7, 2017: PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship Season 3 Jamshedpur concluded today at Tata Badminton Centre, Jamshedpur with young talented shuttlers engaging in action-packed battles for the titles. The tournament was being organized by Sara Foundation (an organisation for the promotion of sports).
In the Boys Singles Under-17 category, Jharkhand shuttler Anish Kumar claimed the title by defeating Rahul Kumar Sah from Jharkhand. Anish won the first set with 21-13 and Rahul pulled a hamstring thereby retiring from the match in the second set after scores 15-4.
In the Girls Singles Under-17 category, Deyashi Kanjibillya from Assam emerged victorious after beating Vilinda Huidrom from Manipur with scores 21-9, 21-6.
Vilinda did claim the Girls Singles Under-15 category trophy after defeating Leimapokpam Diana Devi from Manipur in straight sets 21-13, 21-13.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Saryu Rai, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Food and Supply, State of Jharkhand who awarded the winners.
The action will continue as PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship Season 3 moves back to New Delhi for National Finale in June end/July 2017.
