Anganbari sevikas threaten to stop work from February

Jamshedpur : Anganbari sevikas under the banner of Anganbari karmachari sangh today demonstrated in front of the district collectorate and threatened to stop work from February in protest against delay in payment of wages and non-payment of nutritious food amount.

Anuradha Sharma, East Singhbhum district president of the Anganbari karmachari sangh said that they have not been reimbursed amount incurred on purchasing and preparing of nutritious foods like Dahlia, sattu and khichdi in March 2011, March 2012, September 2013 and between April, May, June, July in 2014 and till August 2015. They are managing with expense from their own pocket.

There are nearly 1622 anganwadi centers in the district which provide dietary supplements to children up to the age of six, pregnant women and lactating mothers from economically backward conditions and function under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).

Incidentally, anganbari sevikas get a monthly honorarium of Rs 3,700.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal accepted that the demands were genuine. �They were demanding their outstanding dues and we will be forwarding their demands to the state social welfare department for clearance of their dues,� said the deputy commissioner.
