Ananya Mittal assumes charge as 24th DC at Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a significant administrative transition, Ananya Mittal, a 2015 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has taken charge as the 24th District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum district in Jamshedpur. The outgoing District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, Manjunath Bhajantri, IAS (Jha.2011), has been newly appointed as the administrator of Subarnarekha Project, Jamshedpur.

During the takeover ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal emphasized that ensuring law and order in the district and successfully implementing development projects would be his top priorities. He pledged to expedite the execution of welfare schemes from both the Central and State Governments, ensuring that these initiatives reach every deserving individual and the farthest corners of society.

Drawing on his prior experience working in the district during probation in 2017-18, Mittal expressed his commitment to leveraging those experiences for the ongoing development efforts. Before assuming this role, he served as the Sub-Divisional Officer in Dhanbad, Deputy Development Commissioner in Simdega and Ranchi, and District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner in West Singhbhum, Chaibasa.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, SDM Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Majhi, Director NEP Jyotsna Singh, District Supply Officer Salman Zafar Khijri, District Planning Officer Arun Dwivedi, District Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar, District Land Acquisition Officer Gunjan Sinha, and officials from various departments.

It’s worth noting that the Election Commission has directed the former DC of Jamshedpur, Manjunath Bhajantri, to stay away from election-related work. DC Manju Nath Bhajantri, who was not overseeing the work of the Returning Officer in East Singhbhum district, has been replaced by DDC Manish Kumar as the District Election Officer. This decision comes in the wake of DC Manju Nath Bhajantri’s previous removal from the post of DC in the Madhupur by-election, followed by his subsequent reinstatement.
