Amit Shah to chair high-level meeting against Naxalite menace in New Delhi today

New Delhi: A meeting to confront outlawed Naxalites will be held in New Delhi today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over the high-level meeting to be held at Vigyan Bhavan at 10.00 am.

Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and other Naxal-affected states will attend the meeting.

The situation of Maoists in various states and the government’s counter strategy will be discussed. Odisha’s performance in the fight against Naxalism is commendable. Odisha is the leader in implementing the central government’s scheme at the grassroots level. Maoist suppression, the state government has done a good job in creating confidence in the administration of the people of the Maoist affected areas.

Shootings and clashes have decreased by 32 percent, while deaths of security personnel and civilians have also decreased by 56 percent. In 2012, 19 districts in Odisha were Maoist-prone, while in 2022, 10 districts were officially Maoist-prone districts. Out of these 10 districts, Maoist activities are seen in 2-3 districts, while the presence of Maoists is decreasing in the rest of the districts. The Center has praised Odisha on various occasions for successfully implementing the state government’s anti-Naxal policy and the central government’s plan at ground zero.
