Jamshedpur, May 15: The members of Tata Workers Union (TWU) have approved amendments to the Union’s constitution that includes the much needed election rule during the Annual General Meeting held inside Tata Steel Works on Friday.
With this new look constitution the governing body of the union will not have to stare at the district administration before taking decisions related to the election.
The AGM started half an hour late but the passion among the members failed to die as they were present in large numbers at the venue.
The new team which won the election on March 9, 2015 has turned the tables as the new look constitution will help the Union hold elections independently and take decisions on its will.
As the meeting started at 5.30 in the evening R Ravi Prasad, President of Tata Workers Union welcomed the members and showed gratitude for such a huge turnout.
President Prasad asked the General Secretary to present the amended constitution approved the working
committee among members.
General Secretary B.K. Dinda presented the proposal for amendments to the constitution clause wise among the members and sought their opinions on every point.
Union members unanimously approved the amendments made to the constitution which in itself is a big achievement for the new committee.
Later, Dinda presented the list of objections made by some of the members during the amendment but they were disavowal by the majority of the members.
General Secretary also read out the suggestions given by the members which included applying the amended constitution from the current session.
Dinda asked for the members view on that and the members didn’t disappoint and approved the same.
