Jamshedpur, July 20: A delegation led by the president of Alpsankhak Sikh Sewa Sadan (ASSS) Chandan Singh met the Jharkhand State Minority Commission Chairman Kamal Khan and informed him about the predicament being faced by thousands of the Sikh minority community students due to nonpayment of their scholarship last year. This is the result of non verification of the scholarship certifications by the schools concerned. The ASSS delegation stated that private schools, in spite of the organizations pleas on several occasions have not shown any positive inclination barring a few. This attitude against the students was adversely affecting the low income earning families of the deprived Sikh minority community students. The delegation also told the Minority Commission Chairman that even the East Singhbhum district Welfare Department and the District Education Department were informed of the serious matter and had been requested to take positive action for the release of the pending scholarship amounts.

The State Minority Commission Chairman Kamal Khan assured the delegation that he would take all possible steps to secure justice for the Sikh minority students. He told the ASSS delegates that he would initiate an enquiry in the matter regarding the points raised and prepare a report that would be sent to the government.

The delegation of ASSS led by Chandan Singh included Manjit Singh, Kulwant Singh and Hawaldar Gurmit Singh.
