CM reviews Rs 500 cr Itkhori Tourism Development Master Plan
Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the state government is giving priority to the development of industry, agriculture, Information Technology and the tourism sector for the all-round development of Jharkhand.
“The government is committed to make Jharkhand a world-class tourist destination by promoting cultural and eco-tourism. This will generate employment and end poverty. Itkhori, a confluence site of three religions, is being developed as a world-class tourist destination at the cost of Rs 500 crores,” said the CM after holding a review meeting of the Itkhori Tourism Development Master Plan organized at Dakbangla, Itkhori.
The CM said the entire master plan of Itkhori and the region surrounding it had been prepared. “The world’s tallest (30 meter) Buddhist Prayer Wheel will be built in Itkhori. At present, there is a 26 meter high Prayer wheel is in Qinghaii of China, which is the tallest. Two river fronts Bhadrakali Ghat and Buddha Ghat will be constructed. A circuit will be constructed in Bodh Gaya, Kaleshwari and Itkhori. Benefit from Foreign exchange will also come from foreign tourists.
This will provide employment to local people. Work will start within two-three months. In this regard, the agency has been directed to make DPR. A 1.6 km long ropeway will be built at Kalshwari Mountain with the cost of Rs 24 crore. The tender process will start after getting forest and environment clearance,” he said.
The CM said the names of people who had donated their land for beautification of the temples will be engraved on a plaque. He said the donors would be honoured by the state government. He further said, “We pray to the Goddess to empower us enough so that we may bring smile on the faces of poor people.
The government is determined to eliminate poverty from the state by 2022. It is working while keeping this thought in mind. It is getting support from all quarters. We have planned to cleanse the silt of rivers to stop the rainwater from being wasted. With the help of political parties, social institutions and the people, cleaning of rivers will start in April and May as a mass movement. This will change the scenario of the whole area.”
Itkhori Tourism Development Master Plan
As per the master plan, the gateway of Bhadrakali temple complex will be curvaceous towards the east. Two river fronts Bhadrakali Ghat and Buddha Ghat will be constructed. Multi-Purpose halls, cultural centers, information centers, auditoriums, museums will be constructed in the premises.
There will be a battery-powered vehicle to carry visitors from the entrance to Buddhist Stupa and Koteshwar Temple. Different roads will also be constructed for both destinations. The area will be full of greenery. Food courts and parks will also be made. Scenario of this area will change with the completion of the project. The CM visited the entire area with the DC and other senior officials and gave them detailed instructions for executing the master plan.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Tourism Secretary Rahul Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Singh, Chatra, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh V Variyar, Deputy Development Commissioner Jishan Kamar and other officials of the district were also present.
