Alert issued for rain in Jharkhand from March 2

Jamshedpur, Feb 28: Jharkhand experienced significant impact from a western disturbance over the past 24 hours, resulting in adverse weather conditions. While today saw clear skies in many districts of the state, the Meteorological Center anticipates a dry spell for one to two days. However, from March 2 onwards, there is a likelihood of rain returning to several areas, prompting authorities to issue an alert. It’s noteworthy that Garhwa-Palamau bore the brunt of storms, rain, and hailstorms on Tuesday, resulting in extensive damage including loss of two lives.

The Meteorological Department forecasts the reoccurrence of the western disturbance, with rain predicted in various parts of the state from March 2 to March 3. In the capital Ranchi, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand has warned of thunderstorms in many areas, with reports of heavy losses particularly in Garhwa, Palamu, and Lohardaga. Palamu district witnessed hailstorms, while Lohardaga faced damage to asbestos roofs and houses due to strong winds. Fallen tree branches have also caused significant damage to property in several areas.
