Al-Qaeda operative Masood attends funeral procession of his father

Jamshedpur, Jan. 5: Suspected Al-Qaeda operative in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), Ahmad Masood Akram Sheikh alias Monu, attended the funeral procession of his father in full police protection at Dhatkidih on Thursday.

Masood who is currently lodged in Ghaghidih Central Jail along with fellow accused Naseem Akhtar alias Raju, was arrested by the Jamshedpur police from his residence in Razzaq Colony in Dhatkidih on January 25, 2016.

After getting the information about the demise of his father, Ahmad Masood was brought to his Dhatkidih residence and was allowed to participate in the funeral procession in handcuffs with policemen around him. The funeral procession was taken out from Masood�s residence and culminated at Dhatkidih graveyard.

Hundreds of people participated in the funeral procession. Ahmad Masood Is the member of Al-Qaeda’s sleeper cell and motivated youths of the steel city as well as other parts of Jharkhand to join and expand the organization.

It may be noted that the police picked up 35-year-old Masood following inputs provided by Jamshedpur-based Abdul Sami, who was arrested by Delhi Police special cell from Mewat in Haryana.

Masood Had confessed that he had been linked with the terrorist group since 2003 after he was motivated to join it by Abdul Rehman Katki, who had been arrested by Delhi Police from Cuttack in December last year.
