Jamshedpur, July 29: Tata Steel paid homage to Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhai Tata on the occasion of his 112th birth anniversary today. The Sports department of Tata Steel organized a cross country race on Friday, July 29 for Jogga school children.
Cross Country Races for JOGGA Affiliated Schools began at 7.45 a.m. Around 900 school children from 35 JOGGA-affiliated schools participated in it. Srimanti Sen, President, (JOGGA), Rajani Shekhar, principal, DBMS English School, Pragya Singh, Principal, DAV School, Bistupur and Budhwa Oraon, former international athlete (SAF Games gold medalists) was present on the occasion as chief guest and flagged off the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th races in the morning.
In 2 km junior girls� event, Motilal Nehru Public School was the winners followed by ADLS Sunshine School. In 3 km Junior Boys Valley Views students were crowned champions, while Kasidih High School was the runners-up.
In 3 km senior girls� event, AIWC Academy of Excellence was first while Motilal Nehru Public School came second. In 5 km Senior Boys AIWC Academy of Excellence was first followed by Jamshedpur Public School.
R Ravi Prasad, president (TWU), was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the winners along with Satish Kumar Singh, Chairman, Sports Advisory Committee, Farzan Heerjee, Chief (GR & Sports), Mukul Vinyak Choudhari, administrator (TFA & Sports) Bagicha Singh was the director of the meet and was ably supported by Rajiv Seth, Firoz Khan, Ahsan Khalid, V Ramakrishna, Basant Singh, R K Singh, N C Deb, Saroj Lakra, R K Banra, R K Verma, K K Biswas, Jujhar Singh, Amit, Shashi Ranjan, Renu Bhaduria, Punam Kumari, Kuntala Paul, Satish Singh, Ajit Singh, Hassan Imam, Arvind Parasad, Nageshwar Rao, Ramesh Das, Mrinmoy Patro, Binod and trainees of training centers, cadets of archery, football and Athletic Academy, JSA staff of Sports Department and game teachers of all JOGGA-affiliated schools.
Earlier in the morning before the start of the races Srimanti Sen, president (JOGGA) along with Farzan Heerjee, Chief (GR & Sports), Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, administrator (TFA & Sports), Rajiv Seth, senior manager sports, and employees of TFA & Sports Dept paid Homage to JRD Tata.
