AIDSO condemns lathi charge on BHU students

Jamshedpur, Sept. 24: Members of All India Democratic Students’ Association (AIDSO) East Singhbhum district committee on Sunday burnt the effigy against the police lathi charge on protesting students at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Around 1000 girl students of BHU for the last two days were protesting against the molestation by the outsider boys who have been alleged to have thrown stones at the girls’ hostel, said, Ajay Rai of AIDSO. During their sit-in-protest before the administrative building of BHU, police resorted to lathi charge at around 12 in the midnight which injured a large number of students. According to Rai, when the students informed about the issue to the security officer and university management they asked them not to go out after 6 pm. Soon after this the girl students from all over the country who have been studying at BHU decided to protest the decision and gheraoed the vice chancellor and the administrative office after which the police jawans resorted to lathi charge.
