Jamshedpur, Jan 11: A felicitation programme was organized to honour the panchayat representatives of North Karandih who went on hunger strike for nine days in support of their various demands. It was held near Radhakrishna temple at Gwala Patti, Parsudih. Mukhiya Sini Soren, Deputy Mukhiya Chandramani Devi and Panchayat committee member Sangita Patro were garlanded by the local villagers. Several other guests were also felicitated on this occasion.
The panchayat representatives said they had mainly demanded measures to prevent encroachment of government land and allotment of land for the construction of panchayat building within a month. They said their unity and persistence bore fruit and the district administration officials gave written assurance to fulfill their demands. Deputy Collector Land Reforms Ravindra Gagrai and Circle Officer Amit Kumar Srivastava assured the agitators to fulfill their demands, said the representatives.
