Jamshedpur, Dec 22: Ace mountaineer Premlata Agarwal, who attributes Dalma as her first step towards climbing the Everest, took a group of adventure enthusiasts for trekking at the hills of Dalma.
As part of the drive the relief drive for Uttrakhand a trek to Dalma was organised and Rs 1100 was charged from
each participant.
The group of participants assembled at Modi Park near Keenan Stadium in the morning while trek to Dalma was flagged
off at 7.30 am by Jamshedpur MP Dr. Ajay Kumar and Jusco MD Ashish Mathur.
Also present on the occasion were Radheshyam Agrawal and members of Marwari Mahila Manch including Lata Agrawal, Prabha Padia, Jaya Dokania and Susheela Khirwal.
It may be mentioned that Premlata Agrawal was a part of the relief work of Tata Relief Committee. Under the relief
operation the committee distributed tents, modern solar lights with mobile re- charge facility, food grain packets, water purifying medicines and other essential items to the 200 odd trapped families of the 3 villages.
Bachedri Pal, also a resident of Uttrakhand, and Premlata, a seasoned, moun- taineer, would be very helpful in the relief operations.
The unique programme was organized under the leadership of Agrawal with an aim also to stimulate the spirit of
adventure and help the participants understand them- selves better.
The objective of this trek was to focus on ‘Development’ of the human potential through teamwork. The activities as part of the programme garnered team spirit and instilled in the participants a feeling of to-getherness and optimism.
The expedition designed by her taught the team members the importance of self-motivation, and other leadership
aspects like taking initiatives, taking decisions and working in groups towards a com-mon goal.
Marwari Mahila Manch has adopted a village named Basu at Uttrakhand. The social organisation has decided to
start relief work.
Two of the legendry women mountaineers Padmashree Bachendri Pal, first Indian woman to conquer Mount Everest, and Padmashree Premlata Agrawal, who holds the record of being oldest Indian woman to conquer the world’s highest peak and also scale all the seven highest mountains of every continent, would help the initiative in tragedy stricken Gangotri region in Uttrakhand.
The organisation has decided to construct 26 houses in the village. The new house will be built from steel and plywood.
Moreover plans are to built community center, school and small hospital.
The project costs about 1.5 crores. The manch has decided to take initiative to collect fund. This amount is
being collected.
