Jamshedpur, September 14: The district administration’s dry run on Saturday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tatanagar caused significant traffic disruptions across the city.
The dry run involved completely clearing the one-way road from Sonari Airport to Tatanagar Station. Vehicles simulating the Prime Minister’s convoy, including one equipped with a jammer, were part of the rehearsal. Tight security measures were enforced on both sides of the road, with barriers set up to close all cross streets from Sonari to Tatanagar Station. The area was cordoned off, preventing pedestrian and vehicle access.

The dry run, which lasted about an hour, led to severe traffic jams extending for three hours. Vehicles traveling from Kadma, Sonari, Bistupur, Jugsalai, and Bagbera were stuck due to the blocked route. Many commuters were caught in the rain as they were forced to wait in the traffic. The impact of the dry run was felt on other city roads too. The road from Tatanagar Station to Burmamines via the overbridge and routes from Sakchi to Kadma, Sonari, Bistupur, and Jugsalai were also congested, resulting in long queues across these areas.
