Administration should provide basic amenities in Naxal-affected areas: Kolhan Commissioner

Chaibasa, July 5: Under the chairmanship of divisional commissioner, Singhbhum, Manoj Kumar, a review meeting of development works and schemes conducted in the division was organized in the auditorium of West Singhbhum district on Wednesday.

In the meeting, the commissioner reviewed the development works and schemes conducted in West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan and also received information regarding its updated report.

The updated status of compliance of the instructions given by the Commissioner in the last meeting was also reviewed with the officials.

The Commissioner instructed the Electricity Supply Division Seraikela to ensure smooth power supply and to solve any problem quickly. Information about the development works being done in Naxal-affected areas was also obtained from the departmental officials.

Commissioner Manoj Kumar said that in Naxal-affected areas, the administration and the police should establish mutual coordination and provide basic facilities to the people and work to connect the villagers of remote areas with the mainstream.

In the meeting, special emphasis was laid by the Divisional Commissioner on road, electricity, drinking water and mobile connectivity especially in the remote areas of the division. He said that the officials need to work at the grassroots level to get the schemes on the ground. The officers should go to the site themselves and work on the related plans. Special instructions were also given by the Commissioner to make the society drug free and avoid witchcraft. He directed the concerned officials to specially monitor schools, colleges and public places to make them drug free.
