Jamshedpur, Feb. 9 : In view of General elections scheduled 2019, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amit Kumar has directed the block development officers (BDOs), circle officers (COs) and respective thana officials to submit vulnerability mapping and minimum facilities available at the polling booths with the district election office.
�We are looking forward to ensure proper preparations for the elections. The vulnerability mapping of polling booths in all the 11 blocks and the minimum facilities (drinking water, ramp, electricity etc) available at the polling booths would have to be submitted by the officials. We will compile the report and submit the same before the state chief electoral office,� said Amit Kumar.
Incidentally, as per the draft electoral roll, there are 16,58,549 voters in the district and the voter�s sex ratio is 951:1000. There are in all 1885 polling booths.
Directive was also issued to all the circle and thana officials to also submit field verification report of all the booths before February 10 along with identification of sensitive booths.
The thana and block level officials were also asked about transport and other logistic requirements for taking security forces to each of the booths in the past elections and also about status of awareness to be carried in block levels on use of VVPAT and EVMs.
In the light of the ensuing parliamentary elections the Kolhandivision security arrangements revision is on the cards with all three districts comprising East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan preparing the list of sensitive and hypersensitive polling centers.
The polling centers in the Maoist infested areas of the three districts are categorised in the sensitive and hypersensitive zone and the police administration of the respective districts are working on the matter.
Moreover, the East Singhbhum that has become more vulnerable to the naxalite activities comparatively to the other two districts needs special attention in run up to the polling
