Administration prepares action plan for 2014-15, focus on tackling grievances

Jamshedpur : Public petitions and complaints to different administrative departments will now be seen by senior administration officials on a regular basis.

The East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal has deputed senior administrative officials to track public petitions and complaints at different administrative departments on regular basis.

As part of the action plan for 2014-15 all administrative officials deputed in the district have been asked to track of citizen�s grievances. This is the first time such an action plan has been crafted by a district administration in any of the districts in Kolhan region.

�In a week all the senior administrative officials have to dedicate one day (ideally Saturday) for office inspection. During office inspection they will check the register and also look into the letters and petition received from public and take down details about the disposal of each of the petition. For example if there is an allegation against functioning of a government official by a citizen then inspecting official should investigate if the petition has been properly dealt with and action taken against the erring official,� said the deputy commissioner.

Directives has been issued to inspecting administrative officials to classify petitions and letters received at the offices into four categories namely- government letter, complaint letter, allegation letter and general letter and keep a track about each of the letter till it reaches its logical conclusion.

During office inspection the inspecting officials will browse through �cash books� and find out about amount spent and amount unspent for different development projects and also seek information from the concerned department officials about proper utilization of the unspent amount.

This apart, the inspecting officials will note down sanctioned strength of workforce in the departments and the existing (working) strength and also report about cleanliness and ambience at the office.

Each of the senior administrative officials will have to devote two days a week (ideally Tuesday and Friday) in field visit and take stock of the on-the-spot physical verification of the development schemes undertaken in these area.

�We have fixed quarterly targets along with deadline for each of the development schemes and the report of the inspecting officials will be reviewed every fortnightly. The aim is to ensure that all development schemes are completed in time,� said Amitabh Kaushal.
