Administration making efforts to resolve water crisis: DC

Jamshedpur: Public representatives and district administration officials of East Singhbhum held a vital meeting to discuss the issue of drinking water scarcity plaguing a large number of people across the district on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, which was also attended by the MP of Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar said the district administration was making efforts to resolve the water scarcity problem. Pure drinking water should be supplied in areas affected by mining. For this purpose, 38 villages have been identified. Out of these villages, 31 have started getting water through deep boring, pipeline and solar taps, said Kumar.

The DC further asked all Mukhiyas to ensure that defunct toilets should be made functional to make the villages open defecation free (ODF).

The Mukhiyas said the UCIL was yet to supply water to the local villages without any problem. At this the DC advised the Mukhiyas to get the hand-pumps repaired on their own initiative.

Among others present at the meeting included Ghatsila MLA Laxman Tudu, Jugsalai MLA Ramchandra Sahis, Deputy Development Commissioner B Maheshwari and ADC Sourabh Kumar Sinha.
