Administration to keep eye on candidates expenses

Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum cum district returning officer Dr Amitabh Kaushal today declared the issuance of notification for the Parliamentary election at Jamshedpur.

The DC said the nomination forms will be accepted till 26th March. Candidates may purchase as well as submit the forms within the deadline. General category candidates will have to pay Rs 25,000 while Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates will have to pay half the amount.

The DC said preparations for the elections were almost done with the deployment of 7156 election duty staff at the 1626 booths in the district. Around 1092 vehicles will be used during elections.

Dr Kaushal further said that the expenses of candidates will be calculated from the day of filing of their nomination. The expenses of each candidate will be under scanner of the district administration and the Election Commission of India, he said.

The DC said so far the excise department had seized around 1391 litres of illicit liquor in raids ahead of the polls. Fine worth over Rs 1 lakh has also been recovered. A special drive was launched in the district to issue 483 non-bailable warrants. All arms licence holders have been asked to surrender their arms, he said.
