Administration gears up for peaceful Ramnavmi procession in Jamshedpur, SDO convenes meeting

Jamshedpur : With an aim to ensure peaceful Ramnavmi celebrations, the East Singhbhum administration is gearing up to make elaborate arrangements. The administration has decided to deploy adequate policemen and

paramilitary personnel to prevent any untoward incident. The festival, will include processions taken out by 159 akharas on April 15. With maximum temperatures soaring, water was one of the main issues raised during a meeting presided over by Dhalbhum sub-divisional officer ( SDO) Chandan Kumar.

Among others the meeting was also attended by representatives of Muslim clerics. During the meeting the administration, sought concerns of the community and shared details of security arrangements.

Kumar said the administration has asked private companies to provide water tankers in different city areas depending on locations nearest to their works during the festivity and afterwards too in view of the imminent water crisis.

Several sensitive areas have been identified and Rapid Action Force jawans will be posted accordingly. The festival which is observed by large populace in the city with processions being taken out by licensee akharas across the city and with soaring temperature water was the main issue raised during the meeting for a hassle free festivity.

The administration has divided the district into 25 zones according to police station areas, and six super-zones, which include cluster of thanas, ahead of the Ramnavamifestivity.The  zonal and super-zonal officials have been asked to coordinate with local urban bodies – Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Jusco, Mango Noified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality – to ensure cleaning of ghats and roads before the festivity.

The Ramnavami immersion ceremony will take place at following ghats namely Subernarekha in Sakchi, Kapali and Domuhani in Sonari, Sati in Kadma, Bhuiyandih in Sitaramdera-Sidhgora, Bodhanwala in Bistupur and Baroda in Bagbera.

Another official said that all police stations have been asked to interact with local akharas committee on a regular basis for a peaceful festival. District administration has fallen back on corporate help to tide over water exigencies during Ramnavami festival earlier it was only Jusco who was asked to provide water through tankers to various akharas taking out Ramnavami processions. But this time different corporate sectors have been asked to provide water tankers for water supply in their nearby areas.
