Jamshedpur : The district administration today convened a meeting at Michael John Auditorium in view of Durga Puja celebrations.
The discussions ranged from electricity problems, poor connectivity of roads and preparations of the puja by each committee.
The deputy commissioner Dr Amitabh Kaushal directed police officials to take necessary measures to prevent any inconveniences to the people. The DC said the police personnel will be deputed in large numbers to keep an eye on troublemongers.
Magistrates have been deputed at various places to make sure that peace is kept round the clock.
Since forcible donation from the community has been a problem for puja committees, the apex body has asked the committees to cut down on unnecessary show off and try for simpler puja which would have the basic necessities.
The Samity has asked the committees to stay away from forced donation from traders and residents. The committees were also asked to be prepared to combat with any emergency including fire safety.
Ram Babu Singh, general secretary of JKDPS said the members of the organisation have been directed to ensure cleanliness near their campuses. Complains of garbage accumulating near pandals and waste thrown here and there have been received last year. The officials of puja committees need to keep it clean.
The general secretary also said that they would take up the issues of cleaning and developing the Subernarekha ghats with the district administration so that the immersion of the idols is held in a clean environment.
�We have also decided to ensure that no forcible donations are taken from the people. If we receive any complains we would definitely act against that particular puja committee,� noted Singh.
The Samiti like last year has asked puja committee to only play devotional songs at a decent decibel level which does not problem tovisitors or the residents nearby. Loudspeakers must be stopped after10 pm as per the district administration guidelines. The samiti willalso hold seven zonal meetings with the district administration on Puja preparations next month.
According to information, puja committees would be asked to make elaborate arrangements to ensure security and cleanliness and hygiene at their respective campuses. The quality of food and other eateries served near the campuses of puja pandals should be proper so that the devotees.
�Last year we received number of complains of unhygienic food served during the festival. I think the office bearers of puja committees should ensure that they put a check on the vendors,� said a senior member of Samiti.
The Jamshedpur Durga Puja Kendriya Samiti (JDPKS) has requested the Durga Puja committees in the city to focus on cleanliness and environment.
While the JDPKS have requested for a smooth puja without traffic problems, eve-teasing, blaring loudspeakers, forced donations and proper immersion management.
