Administration conducts marathon meeting to review security at polling centers

Jamshedpur : In the light of the ensuing assembly elections the Kolhan division security arrangements revision is on the cards with all three districts comprising East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharswan preparing the list of sensitive and hypersensitive polling centers.

Taking a lead the East Singhbhum administration today conducted the review of Jamshedpur East and West Assembly seats.

The polling centers in the Maoist infested areas of the three districts are categorised in the sensitive and hypersensitive zone and the police administration of the respective districts are working on the matter. DC held the meeting of the senior superintendent of police of all to ascertain the security threat emanating from the Maoist region.

DC Amitabh Kaushal said, “Enhancing the security measures before the elections are but obvious exercise and there is nothing unusual about it. Assessing the security threat on booth wise in all the blocks is common exercise.

The East Singhbhum, Deputy Commissioner, (DC) convened the meeting of the district officials on primarily to take stock of the poll related preparations however, the issue of security arrangements in the extremist infested areas too, was discussed at length.

Moreover, the East Singhbhum that has become more vulnerable to the naxalite activities comparatively to the other two districts needs special attention in run up to the polling that will take place on December 2 and the requirement of the para military personnel in this district is higher, therefore.

“The issue pertaining to the requirement of the security measures in the extremist hit areas of the district was discussed in the meeting and we are working in that direction,” informed, the East Singhbhum official. On the other hand, despite all the talks of security regiz in the areas of naxal influence political parties are reluctant to visit the remote villages of the district.

“The government or for that matter the local administration will provide security to the candidates in the fray but for campaigning and other related purpose there is no sound security arrangement,” opines, JVM leader.
