Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan’s Bharat Bandh causes road jam in Jamshedpur, disrupts train services in Tatanagar

Jamshedpur: The symbolic Bharat Bandh organized by Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan (ASA) to demand recognition of Sarna as a religion experienced only partial success in rural areas on Saturday. Campaign members blocked the Tata Hata main road in Karandih, resulting in a traffic jam, with individuals stranded for an extended period. Parsudih police station in-charge Ramkumar Verma and police forces were present to manage the situation.
Campaign Leader’s Perspective: Vimo Murmu, Central General Secretary of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan, leading the protest, emphasized Sarna as the identity of 15 crore Adivasi communities. He condemned the injustice of not recognizing the tribal religion.
Train Disruptions in Chakradharpur: The Bharat Bandh impacted train services in Chakradharpur railway division, leading to cancellations and route changes. Trains like Tata-Badampahar Memu Passenger, Tata-Ara Express, and Tata Dhanbad Swarnarekha Express faced cancellations. Jhargram-Purulia passenger was terminated from Tata, causing inconvenience to passengers. Vande Bharat Express altered its route via Muri, and Sampark Kranti Express changed its course via Hijri. Bilaspur-Patna Express, usually via Anara, was diverted via Muri.
Passenger Woes: Tatanagar passengers faced difficulties due to train cancellations, primarily affecting Tata-Ara train travelers who had reached the station in the morning. Passengers expressed displeasure, highlighting the need for earlier communication about train cancellations.
Security Measures: Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police maintained vigilance at Tatanagar station, patrolling all platforms. Fortunately, there were no reports of railway track blockages in the vicinity, providing relief to the Railway Police.
