Jamshedpur: Ahead of the major shift in train operations from Tatanagar to Adityapur starting February 5, the railway administration is rapidly expanding passenger facilities at the station. A key highlight of this upgrade is the construction of a dedicated ticket counter for the differently-abled passengers and a current reservation counter. These facilities will allow travelers to book tickets for Asansol, Dhanbad, and Visakhapatnam-bound trains up to 30 minutes before departure.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Upgrade
To handle the anticipated surge in footfall, several new amenities are being introduced:
- Passenger Information: A new inquiry center is being established to provide real-time announcements for arrivals and departures.
- Modern Connectivity: Plans are underway to install lifts and escalators for better accessibility, while CCTV cameras are being installed at platforms and ticket counters to ensure safety.
- Water & Maintenance: A “Quick Watering System” will be installed for train coaches, supported by two new borewells and a long-term plan to supply water from the Kharkai River. Additionally, a washing line for coach maintenance is in the works.
- Station Management: Parking facilities have been ordered, and divisional officers have already surveyed the station for a new administrative office to monitor passenger services.
New Train Schedule and Financial Impact
The transition will happen in phases starting tomorrow. While this move aims to decongest Tatanagar, it will increase the financial and travel burden on Jamshedpur residents who now have to commute further to Adityapur.
Launch Dates for Adityapur-Based Services:
- February 5: Tata-Dhanbad Swarnarekha Express and Tata-Hatia Passenger.
- February 6: Tata-Asansol Express.
- March 29: Tata-Visakhapatnam Train.
