Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Defaulters in Adityapur; Buildings to be Sealed Over Unpaid Tax

Jamshedpur: The Adityapur Municipal Corporation administration has intensified the recovery of outstanding revenue. Direct action has now been initiated against those ignoring the rules for holding tax and trade licenses. Targeting major defaulters, the corporation has completed preparations to seal their buildings. In this connection, the process of inspection and issuing notices has been accelerated in several areas of the city.

The Municipal Corporation has issued final notices to three prominent institutions and individuals who have failed to pay their holding tax. These include Astro Engineering, Chandrakant Mishra, and Hari Prasad Agrawal. A clear warning has been given to all of them: If the outstanding tax is not deposited within the stipulated time, their buildings will be sealed with immediate effect.

In view of the action, the corporation has gone a step further and directed the tenants living in these buildings to vacate the premises so that no hindrance occurs during the sealing process. The impact of this strictness is already visible, as nearly a dozen establishments have deposited lakhs in arrears out of fear of action.

Raids on Trade License Violators

Along with tax recovery, the corporation team conducted an intensive raid campaign regarding trade licenses in the markets of Adityapur. During this, several shops were found to be operating without valid licenses. On the spot, the Municipal Corporation collected fines for the violation of rules. As part of the action, a financial penalty of five thousand rupees each was imposed on Vaishnav Hardware and Bharat Dresses. Meanwhile, a fine of two thousand rupees was levied on Shiva Electrical located at RIT Mode, and fifteen hundred rupees on Chris Store.

Officials have given a strict warning to shopkeepers to renew their licenses as soon as possible and inform the corporation after depositing the outstanding amount. The corporation has made it clear that this inspection campaign will continue uninterrupted across all government and non-government institutions, and the legal net will be tightened around tax evaders.
