Adhikar Manch for Kurmali inclusion

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Moolvasi Adhikar Manch members have demanded inclusion of Kurmali language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

They have written to the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani in this connection through the DC of East Singhbhum. A memorandum was handed over to the DC by a delegation of the outfit members led by Harmohan Mahato.

In the letter, it is mentioned that a large number of Kurmis had fought for a separate state of Jharkhand. Despite the formation of a separate state, the Kurmis are yet to get their rightful, Mahato said.

Mahato said Kurmali language had got the status of second state language in the state. He said the Kurmis inhabited Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa and Assam in large numbers.
