Jamshedpur, Oct 13: In anticipation of the festive rush during Chhath Puja, Durga Puja, and Diwali, an extra bogie has been added to the Tata -Ara Express train from October 17 to January 16, bringing the total to 17 bogies.
This enhancement applies to both Ara to Tata and Tata to Ara routes. Furthermore, Tata-Itwari and Tata-Bilaspur operations have been restored, easing travel for passengers during the festive period.
The Kharagpur-Bhadrak route of the South Eastern Railway has resumed train services, benefiting passengers traveling between Bengal and Odisha. Sixteen previously cancelled trains are now running regularly on this route.
In the South East Central Railway division, developmental works had led to the cancellation of several local trains. To address passenger concerns, four local trains will run for two days on different dates as per their original schedule.
However, the surge in festive travel has led to extended waiting times, with some trains serving Bihar, Mumbai, and Amritsar having waiting lists exceeding 200 passengers. Despite the increased demand, extra coaches are not readily available, causing inconvenience to travelers.
Passengers heading to Bihar for Chhath Puja face challenges, as trains passing through Chakradharpur railway division report high waiting lists from October 17 to 30. Although Puja special trains have been announced, some passengers at Chakradharpur station may not benefit.
Railways is yet to address the pressing issue of providing relief to passengers during significant festivals, such as Chhath Puja, Durga Puja, and Diwali, when the demand for train travel is exceptionally high.
