Jamshedpur: The road for the construction of the electric crematorium at Sonari Fagu Baba Shamshan Ghat was paved today by the district administration.

The additional deputy commissioner of the district Ganesh Kumar today visited the site of the proposed crematorium and took stock of the physical attributes of the place.

He was accompanied by the trainee IAS officer Neha Arora and the local circle officer. In this connection, the MLA of Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta, who was earlier against the construction of the crematorium, has sent a revised proposal to the government. The district administration has therefore started work on the proposal.

During inspection, the officials found that the Shamshan Ghat was registered and that bodies had been cremated at several places at the said site. A body was brought for cremation at the said site in the presence of the administrative officials.

Later the ADC asked the circle officer to submit a report on land measurement to the deputy commissioner after seeing the revenue documents of the said land.

Meanwhile, the administration officials said that the Safed Talab (pond) situated at the Anil Sur Path in Uliyan, Kadma, will be developed at the government’s expenses.

The ADC led a team of district officials today to conduct a physical verification of the said pond. The said pond is a vacant land in government records. Earlier, one Purnima Mahato had filed a title suit in connection with this land.

As per government the said land is a lease land. The ADC said any decision will be taken only when a written order is issued regarding the land ownership.

The ADC said the Shamshan Ghat was mentioned in the Khatiyan. Prima facie it appears that the land of the Shamshan Ghat comes under lease land. If need arises, a no objection certificate will be obtained for the land from the authorities concerned, he said.
