Ambuja Cements Limited has announced a major Rs 14,500 crore growth capex programme to expand its cement capacity. The Adani Portfolio firm plans to add 30 MTPA capacity across key Indian markets.
The ambitious strategy involves setting up new greenfield and brownfield projects in high-growth regions. The initiative will expand its operations across the East, West, and North clusters.
Company executives emphasized that this expansion focuses on quality growth and a balanced manufacturing network. Strengthening the link between clinker and grinding capacity will build network flexibility.
The proposed expansion will boost the company’s total production capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30. Strategic cost efficiencies will support overall market competitiveness and supply chain performance.
The plan assigns new grinding capacities of 15.5 MTPA to the West, 11.6 MTPA to the East, and 2.9 MTPA to the North cluster.
Upstream clinker capacities will also grow in Assam, Maharashtra, and Mundra. These additions will directly support the expanding regional grinding footprint across the strategic target markets.
The proximity to primary demand centres will help reduce logistics costs and shorten transport distances. The company aims to achieve a manufacturing cost of Rs 4,000 PMT by FY28.
Recent expansions in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra pushed the firm’s total capacity to 113.5 MTPA. Ongoing pipeline developments in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Bihar will further enhance output.
Ambuja Cements expects its overall capacity to touch 119 MTPA by March 2027. The company has already added significant clinker and cement capacity since its acquisition.
