Jamshedpur: The city witnessed a day of inspiration and introspection as renowned film and theatre actor Neeraj Kabi visited the city to engage young minds on the art and soul of acting as a profession.
The accomplished actor addressed a select group of sixty-two senior students from Loyola School in a transformative four-hour session held at the prestigious Russi Modi Centre for Excellence.
Far from glorifying the glamour associated with popular cinema, OTT platforms, or commercial theatre, Kabi delved deep into the essence of true acting. He emphasized the profound difference between an entertainer and an actor, drawing attention to the emotional depth, discipline, and psychological immersion required in serious acting.
“This is a profession where one has to get into the skin of the character and live through it,” he told the rapt audience, “and it is only then that an actor can deliver truly award-winning performances.”
The actor also urged students to explore paths less traveled, choosing artistic fulfillment over fame and fortune. “I invite you,” he said, “to take the more satisfying road, the one where you discover yourself through your roles, and not just entertain.”
In preparation for the event, Kabi visited three potential venues before settling on the Russi Modi Centre. Praising the venue, he said, “What a well-designed property, an ambience perfect for ethereal work.”
For students and educators alike, the session was not only an insight into the world of professional acting but also a powerful reminder that passion, integrity, and craft are what truly shape an artist.
