Activists of JVM stage mahadharna in protest against price rise

Jamshedpur: In protest against price hike in fuel and railways fares Jharkhand Vikash Morcha activists staged mahadharna in front of DC office.

The over three-hour long mahadharna at district collectorate brought district senior leaders led by party central secretary Abhay Singh on a common platform. A delegation also handed over a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding roll back of price rise on fuel and rail and submitted through East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal.

Its a blow for the people of India. Its really funny that the Prime Minister had promised achche din to the masses but the government policies have brought achche din only for capitalists and businessmen and common masses are reeling, said Abhay Singh.

The JVM leaders threatened that if the prices are not rolled back by the central government then JVM would hit the streets and launch a widespread agitation in Jharkhand. Similar agitation were also held today at Chaibasa district collectorate in West Singhbhum and Seraikela district collectorate in Seraikela- Kharsawan district.

JVM district president termed the price hike a cruel’ measure which would aggravate the misery of the people who were already reeling under a sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities. There was no justification for the hike. The Centre should immediately order a roll back of the price hike he said.

Another leader said that the repeated increase in petrol prices shows how callous the BJP government has become. The current inflation rate has nearly touched double digit. At such a time this hike will only add to the burdens of the people, he added.
