Ranchi, March 16: Considering the impending summer in view, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma on Thursday said that the drinking water problem should be sorted out so that people should not face problems in summer.
‘Areas where there is water scarcity should be identified and alternative arrangement should be ensured and control rooms should be activated on district and block level and shorting out of problems should be ensured within 24 hours’, CS directed.
Verma ordered to pay all the Jal Sahiyas and ensure that no school or aanganbadi center runs without proper water facilities. The dept. said that 86% hand pumps in the state are functional and RRP of 15,000 hand pumps will be replaced in the next 10 days and 6000 new hand pumps will be installed in villages.
Reviewing the Swachh Bharat Mission, the CS asked the districts to complete the given targets to make their area ODF and construction of individual toilets should be speed up. 7 lakh toilets have been completed in the state and 389 panchayats have been declared ODF.
The Dept. said that by 31st March, 1000 panchayats will be made ODF and 2 lakh individual toilets will be made in next 2 months.
Drinking Water and Sanitation Principal Sec A. P. Singh, Swachh Bharat Mission Director Rajesh Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting.
