Jamshedpur, Sept 10: Achintam Gupta has been elected as the new President of the Jamshedpur Kendriya Durga Puja Samiti.
The election for this prestigious position took place at the Town Hall on Sunday, drawing active participation from the community.
A total of 252 votes were cast during the election process, with Achintam Gupta securing an impressive tally of 177 votes. In contrast, his rival candidate, Kapil Hui, garnered 75 votes. The election proceedings commenced at 5 pm and concluded at 6.25 pm.
Following his election as President, Achintam Gupta expressed his gratitude to the district administration and all the Durga Puja committees in the city. He extended his appreciation to the district administration for ensuring a peaceful and smooth election process. Gupta highlighted that Jamshedpur boasts a total of 400 Durga Puja committees, out of which 325 are registered entities.
The newly elected President emphasized his commitment to unifying all the committees and showcasing their collective strength. He also disclosed plans to expand the committee ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, demonstrating his dedication to enhancing the celebration of this cherished tradition.
